For the past thirty-six years I've been teaching Russian language and literature at Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. I'm a past president of the Elizabeth Bishop Society of Nova Scotia.
I am a poet and independent scholar, and one of the co-owners of the Elizabeth Bishop House in Great Village, Nova Scotia.
I am a professional singer who recently became a great admirer of Elizabeth Bishop's writing. I am also fond of walking and nature and I became involved with the Elizabeth Bishop Centenary because I wanted to have her poems set to music so that I could sing them.
"Should We Have Stayed at Home, Wherever That May Be?"
The Suzie LeBlanc - Symphony Nova Scotia Concert featuring new settings of Elizabeth Bishop's poems by Canadian composers Alasdair MacLean, Emily Doolittle and Christos Hatzis took place on February 10, 2011. Pictures from the concert may be found here.
