Emma FitzGerald on picture books

Emma FitzGerald is a good friend of the Elizabeth Bishop Society of N.S. and the society is happy to spread the word about a workshop about the art and business of children's picture books that she is doing in October in LaHave, N.S. Emma is the illustrator of the wonderful picture book written by Rita Wilson, A Pocket Time: The Poetic Childhood of Elizabeth Bishop.

In late July, I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting with Canadian poet and journalist Erin Conway-Smith in Great Village. It was Erin's first visit to Nova Scotia and Great Village, and I offered to give her and her partner Geoff York a tour. Below are two images from that day: the first shows Erin reading "Sestina" in the kitchen of the Bishop House, and the second shows her on the verandah of the house.
